CJP Manifesto Explained: Key Ideas in Simple Words

By Areeba Khan

Every movement has a manifesto, and Cockroach Janta Party is no exception, except ours comes with fewer slogans and more jokes. Here are the five planks, explained in simple words.

1. Resilience

Keep going when the news cycle knocks you down. The cockroach is the mascot because it is famously hard to get rid of.

2. Adaptation

Platforms change, formats change, audiences change. Good commentary changes with them without losing its voice.

3. A cleaner, kinder feed

Satire should poke at power, not pile onto people. We aim for sharp jokes without cruelty and arguments without abuse.

4. Plain language

If an idea cannot be explained simply, it is probably hiding something. Every explainer here is written to be understood on the first read.

5. Honest humour

Jokes work best when they are true. We label satire as satire, and we keep it separate from reporting.
